Overview

We’re looking for a proactive, hands-on Cost Accountant who thrives on digging into data, collaborating on the warehouse floor, and helping teams drive smarter, leaner operations. In this role, you won’t just sit behind a desk — you’ll roll up your sleeves, get into the operational details, and play a key role in shaping cost strategy, improving efficiency, and supporting profitability across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with operations teams to analyze warehousing and fulfillment processes — identify inefficiencies, observe workflows, and propose practical cost-saving initiatives.
  • Use time studies, flowcharts, and direct observation to understand how client-specific costs are generated — from inbound to outbound logistics.
  • Create and maintain client cost profiles based on product types, fulfillment requirements, and service levels to improve pricing accuracy and margin control.
  • Collaborate daily with teams across client success, procurement, and warehouse operations to ensure cost data is accurate, up-to-date, and actionable.
  • Collaborate on forecasting and budgeting initiatives to support strategic decision-making and improve financial planning accuracy.
  • Research variances in client reporting and provide actionable insights to enhance transparency and client trust.
  • Partner with leadership to support pricing decisions using detailed cost analysis and forecasting insights.
  • Manage the Fixed and Leased Assets register, including conducting periodic audits and asset tracking.
  • Provide oversight and guidance in managing our inventory integrity process including cycle counts and weights and dimensions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification a plus.
  • 5+ years of hands-on cost accounting experience in warehousing, manufacturing, or logistics-focused environments.
  • Solid knowledge of cost accounting methods, inventory valuation, and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, etc.) is beneficial.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a knack for spotting patterns and inconsistencies.
  • Excellent communicator who can bridge the gap between finance and operations.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced environments and meeting deadlines.

Bonus Points For:

  • Experience with lean process improvement or Six Sigma methodology.
  • Skill in conducting and analyzing time studies or designing flow diagrams to support cost efficiency.
  • Hands-on experience using data visualization tools like Power BI or Tableau.
  • Familiarity with ROU lease accounting under ASC 842 and its implications for financial reporting and compliance.

FLSA Exemption Status:  Exempt

Travel Requirement:  This role will be primarily based at our facility in Sweetwater, TN and occasional travel to our Salt Lake facility, where most of the time will be spent supporting on-site operations. Occasional days will be spent in our Knoxville headquarters as needed for team meetings, strategic planning, or cross-functional collaboration.

Remote Work:  None
